Does Your Belief System Work For You?

Is your belief system holding you back from being successful in life, your MLM or Online business? The most enlightening and helpful exercise you can possibly embark on within the next few days is to find out why you believe the things you believe. I assure you’ll be surprised to discover the shaky ground on which the bulk of your belief system is based.

Let me tell you a story that will help you appreciate this point. A certain young lady was asked why she often cut her chicken into four parts prior to roasting. She explained that she did it because she understood it made the meat more tender.

Meanwhile when the same question was put to her mother, the mom explained that she learned it from her own mother and that she believed cutting the chicken in that manner reduces cooking time and saves cooking fuel.

But when the oldest woman, the grandma was asked the same question, she said that when she was raising her family, they could only afford a very small oven, and so it was necessary to cut the meat in four so they could fit it into the oven!

You may not know it, but there are numerous real-life versions of the scene narrated above. So many of the things we do we do them simply because others have done them, or are still doing them. In other words, most people operate their lives with a belief system that is not really theirs. They ask no questions about it, because have not given it much thought.

In the case of the mother and daughter presented above, they tenaciously held on to the belief that chicken must be cut into four before roasting. But grandma’s reason for doing it, i.e. the size of her oven, had long been overcome, no longer relevant in the lives of later generations. Yet the younger ladies failed to take note and adjust accordingly!

So, is your belief system holding you back in some ways? No, I am not suggesting you adopt a freakish or bizarre outlook in life. However, are there things you should be doing (or stop doing) in order to move your life forward, increase your sense of well-being, your happiness, self-esteem, etc?

Could your life become more refreshing if you changed a few of the things you believe? I assure you, by simply altering a few of your basic beliefs could change your life beyond your imagination.

The interesting thing about belief system is that it is idiosyncratic, very personal. This is both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, it means a person is free to adopt a unique approach to issues, such as when solving a problem.

On the other hand, it could also be very tempting for people to want to imitate whatever approach that has proved successful for someone else. This is not to say that everything we have learnt from others is harmful or useless. No.

There are many things we have learnt from others, including our parents that have served us well. But since the human society is generally selfish and constantly changing, it is safe to conclude that much of what have been handed down to us may be standing in our way of happiness.

Analyzing your belief system will help you to take charge of your life. After all, as an adult, you are free to believe anything you choose. So, occasionally ask yourself where some of your beliefs came from, and whether they still work for you.

If they assist you to be happy and free, fine. But if they engender fear and a feeling of worthlessness, then it is time to reexamine them. The key is to create a belief system that works for YOU.

Are You Committed To Your Goals?

How committed are you to your business success? Are you determined to fight all the obstacles that point you in the wrong direction?

Let me tell you what happens when you are truly committed to a goal you have set for yourself. First, commitment provides you with a sense of purpose. That in turn produces inner energy that propels you irresistibly towards the attainment of your goal.

Commitment unlocks the doors of your imagination; it makes you more creative as you then begin to think only in terms of success. Failure and all the things that could cause it are no options to you. Yes, commitment makes you bolder, more decisive and gutsy in your approach to your business.

More than that, commitment helps you to stop dithering for too long; having decided on that business which you know holds some promise, a committed person does not wait for a minute longer before taking action. So if you find yourself wavering on two opinions for too long, just ask yourself “am I resolutely committed to this thing?”

And do you know that both positive and negative attitudes are contagious? Thus as you exhibit a straightforward attitude towards your business success, this will attract resources and persons who have things to contribute to make you succeed.

A lighthearted approach toward your business on the other hand will attract only the sort of persons who will help you abandon your goal in times of doubts.

Now you know the reasons. So how committed are you to your business? Interestingly, most persons would say they are committed to whatever it is they are doing. But are they, really? There is this old joke: five frogs were sitting on a log close to a river when one of them decided to jump off.

Now guess how many frogs were left sitting on that log? Exactly five frogs, deciding to jump does not mean jumping! The lesson is that our commitment to particular goals is only proven when we take definite actions in that direction.

One way to test your level of commitment is to ask yourself is how would you react if friends, family, or circumstances do not support you in the attainment of your business goal.

Yes, there are times in the life of any business, especially a new business, when quitting appears to be the most logical thing to do. So would you quit? Your answer (i.e. your action) at such times tells how committed you are to your success.

Just remember that as an entrepreneur, you alone hold the keys to your business success. So if it is going to be, it is up to you. And there is no easy way around it; you must show commitment.

And also when you are committed to your business, you will keep looking for ways to improve your approach to various aspects of the business. This again is borne out of the determination that failure is not an option for you.

It takes humility to agree to learn new ways of doing things. But committed persons are often willing to humble themselves to learn from others in order to improve their own processes rather than ‘throwing in the towel’ and moving on to another opportunity.

More than just skills and expertise, commitment is one attribute that helps a person to stay a bit longer even when initial results are unpleasant. And most success stories are a result of people staying committed to their course—ask Thomas Edison or Harland David Sanders (of Kentucky Fried Chicken).

The desire to be lucky is as old as the history of mankind. It is just as strong now in this our jet age as it was five thousand or more years ago when men dwelt in caves.

Everywhere and during all ages, people have often hoped to be favored by the fabled goddess of good luck. Or have there not been times when even you yourself looked at someone and reasoned ‘lucky her ’or‘ I wish I was like him’?

So I guess I am in good company if I ask the question: What percentage of life’s success stories can truly be attributed to luck, and which to hard work? It is one of those questions whereby the answer you get depends on who you ask. So I decided not to ask anyone but myself. In search of answers, I read countless personal development books and autobiographies.

My finding and the conclusion I have drawn from my inquiries into this matter is what I have decided to share with you in this article.

Perhaps the most interesting book I read on the subject was “The Richest Man in Babylon” by George S. Clason. In the book, Clason described mother luck as ‘an impatient and fickle-minded goddess who does not waste her time on anybody who is not prepared.’

That sort of sums up everything else I discovered in my examination of successful people. Forget the lottery winners. Forget also the wealthy inheritors. If luck must favor you, there is something you must do: work hard at whatever it is you are doing.

Throughout life, opportunities will keep presenting themselves to all men in every profession. Some grasp the opportunities by taking quick and consistent action. And they go on to achieve their life’s desires. But the vast majority of people often hesitate, procrastinate, and needlessly delay taking prompt and decisive action. Or when they do, their commitment is feeble and so they soon give up. And what happens? You guessed it; they fail and consider themselves unlucky!

But the main idea I am sharing with you here is that a person’s “luck” is enhanced when they prepare themselves very well and take advantage of opportunities. This is opposed to the idea that luck is merely a desirable outcome that happens to a person without any real effort on their part.

Listen, luck can be attracted! When a person is determined to succeed in life, he takes advantage of all available opportunities; he works hard, learns more about his trade, and seeks ways to overcome obstacles. Luck can not ignore such a person for long. In fact, luck finds him out!

Yes, I know there are a few persons who became wealthy through sheer luck; such as those who won jackpots. But don’t you agree that as far as financial success stories are concerned, these are the exceptions? It isn’t the rule. Trust me on this, playing the game of life on the basis of blind chance is extremely risky.

We can further sum things up this way; the chances of succeeding in life through sheer luck is so remote that anyone who goes about life counting solely on luck to see them through may well end up a failure.

On the other hand, there doesn’t exist anybody who diligently worked at an activity and who did not achieve a measure of success. Yes, levels of success may vary, but all who put their heart to what they do eventually see good results.

So get luckier by working your MLM business harder and smarter! Recognize and take advantage of opportunities that regularly present themselves. That way, when luck comes knocking, you will be prepared for her bounties!

One excellent way to learn good leaderships skills is to start you own Home Based Business. It is the natural inclination of humans to want to be at the helm of things. Your responsibility is to deploy and utilize these resources in a way that produces the best results for an organization. And it often does not matter whether the organization is yours or that you are managing for others; your task as a leader remains the same.

Some qualities that are so vital for success as leaders are best learnt on the lower-level -patience, humility, self-discipline, empathy, determination, trust, and being long-suffering with others. These are qualities that will help any leader to endure the discouragements, disappointments and hardships associated with growing your business and managing people.

Furthermore, people who have observed firsthand the impact of either good or bad leadership are better placed to tell from experience what works and what does not. For example, has your boss shown you empathy at times when you experienced personal disappointments?

How did that affect your attitude toward him and the job? You know the answer! Also, what usually brings the best out of you; is it when your boss drives you like a task master, or when he guides you towards accomplishing set goals?

Whatever your answer, again you now know what works and what doesn’t. So if tomorrow you find yourself in a position of authority, would it not be true that the experiences from your various bosses will help you manage your subordinates to greater productivity?

Leaders in this category are sometimes referred to as “Servant leaders.” It emphasizes the fact that at heart, such leaders consider themselves as servants first before seeing themselves as leaders.

This reduces a domineering mentality in such leaders, and induces the subordinates to willingly corporate with the seniors. In the end, everyone benefits-the needs of subordinates are so cared for that they are able to reach their full potentials. While your organization benefits because your followers are then able to put in their best. And it creates a strong likelihood that such followers will adopt a similar leadership approach in the future. It’s a win-win method.

So, if it is your desire to be a good leader? Try and be a good servant first. That way you will more easily lead your followers to their financial success, and yours.

And, really, I sometimes wonder if life itself won’t be damned too boring if everything were on auto pilot—no challenges, no obstacles, no lessons. What do you think?

Simply tell yourself that you’ll try harder next time. Setbacks are Ok—provided they don’t become continual. Occasional setbacks are like feedbacks that point us in the area we need to improve upon.

Build Upon Your Every Success: Remember that self-improvement or personal development is a journey. So enjoy every stage of it! Make the most of each success you achieve along the way. Motivate yourself by celebrating your victories. That way, each success will often lay a foundation for another success.

It’s usually easier for a person who has succeeded before to succeed again since they only need to repeat what they did before that brought success. But to achieve greater success, you’ll need to keep tweaking your goals a little higher, and disciplining yourself a little harder so as to stay on course and avoid distractions.

Remember that things worth attaining take time, endurance, and discipline. If you apply the tips discussed here and keep yourself motivated, be assured that you can improve your life and achieve your goals.

Does the company possess the fundamentals for continuous long-term growth? Is there a large and expanding market for their products? Are their products things that people GENUINELY need?

Will people have to re-order the products at fairly quick intervals (as opposed to one-time sales)?Do their products attract positive feedback from users?

Other things to consider include the nature of their support system, availability of cheaper alternatives to their products, as well as how easy it is for new members to duplicate their sales methods.

Teach Your Downline: If your home-based business involves recruiting new members, then bear in mind your success is intricately tied to theirs. This is both an asset and a liability.

There seems to be this baseless notion among most persons that in network marketing one can go on to prosper without doing much of anything at all. Well, I’m sure you don’t believe any of that crap.

Meanwhile, ensure that the people you recruit don’t believe that either. Otherwise they won’t work for their success, dragging you down with them. Insist that they commit themselves to following a success plan, just like you. Train them on ways to grow in the business.

Above all, do not recruit and abandon your downlines!
Have Some Money? It’s often been said that it takes money to make money. Forget what you’ve been told: home business is no exception.

Yes, the financial requirements here may not be in the thousands. But you DO need some money to begin with. You’ll surely need to pay to register with the company, to make monthly product purchases, prospect for and follow up on leads. All these call for money. In my opinion you’ll need an average of $200 per month to meet these obligations. And they’re important to building your business.

Home-based businesses are not inherently difficult to run. You only need to have a system in place and adhere to it. You should also teach those your recruit to do the same. In that case, you can make a home business work for you and your team.

MLM Leaders—Must You Train Your Downline?

MLM Leaders are you training your downline? The most interesting thing about network marketing resides in recruiting new members –your downline—who’ll work with you in the business. And if they are properly trained and motivated, they duplicate your efforts, and both they and YOU get paid for THEIR efforts.

Now that is in sharp contrast with what happens in a traditional job. In the corporate world, you merely trade your time at work for money in return for that work. If you desire more money, there are only two options: increase the number of hours you work, or try and convince your employer to give you a pay raise.

Don’t you agree that the first scenario, i.e. Network marketing, is better? Here you are freed from several problems associated with increasing the level of your pay.

As you increase the number of people working with you in your “network”, you are concurrently increasing the total number of hours and income generated by your business and for which you’ll get paid. This is the best way to leverage your time and efforts.

It becomes obvious therefore that a well-trained downline team is in the interest of all—the MLM company, the downline members themselves, and you the team leader. Without their active involvement in the business, you cannot leverage your time, and the very purpose of network marketing will be defeated—which is to leverage on the efforts of a team to increase output and income.

It is therefore crucial that you both train and always motivate members of your team. Teach them ways to do what you’re doing, as well as what your own upline is doing. Indeed, occasionally invite your direct upline and other leaders in the business to help train them. This increases their own chances of success. And invariably, their success is your success.

Training doesn’t necessarily have to take all your time either. At times, all you have to do is simply pass along what your upline or other leaders send you. You surely have more contacts within the company than your downline members, so you no doubt have access to more resources that they do.

Giving them helpful resources that you come in touch with or referring them to ezine articles or some other websites you found to be interesting or helpful can do them a world of good. Those are all parts of the training we’re talking about.

You generally need to keep in constant touch with your downlines, informing, motivating, and guiding them along the way. Show interest in their growth and development.

Training Your Downlines is the surest way to ensure they’ll remain with you and remain in the business. You’ll surely gain a larger downline faster if you keep in touch with and train them. Your credibility among these downline members will also grow over time, and it will be a lot easier for you to sign them up in other MLM opportunities you may decide to join in the future.

Just remember that the ultimate goal of residual income in network marketing cannot be achieved solely on your own efforts. Only a well-trained downline team can make your MLM dreams come true. So you need each other, and it’s hard to say who needs the other more.

In the end I believe training your downline is a mutually beneficial effort. Unfortunately, too many marketers fail to realize this; they simply sign people up, forget them, and move on to the next prospect.

Don’t make that mistake. Stay in constant touch with, inform, and motivate your downline members. They are business associates whose success will determine yours.
