Do you find it hard to learn and remember names? It’s been said that a person’s name is one of the most precious words in the world to them. And that explains why calling people by their names remains one of the quickest ways to build rapport with new contacts.

But to call people by their names, we first need to remember those names. And if you are like most persons I’ve met, you’ll agree that this often presents a serious challenge—remembering the names of the people we meet.

In a short while, I’ll give you some tips on how to remember the names of those you meet. First though, let me give you more reasons on why the effort put into remembering names is well worth it.

The greatest reason we need to remember people’s names is that people are important. They may just be acquaintances, friends, friend of a friend, or potential clients, such as members of your email list.

And unless we are able to address them by their personal names, we can’t lay any claim to being close to them. And without a measure of closeness to an individual, every conversation must necessarily be on a fairly formal plane.

If you are a marketer of any product, such persons whose names you don’t know or remember automatically become cold contacts. And we all know how hard it is to market to such group of persons.

So you’ll agree that in order to be able to interact with a person on a personal level, then a level of friendship must necessarily exist between the two of you. And the first step in building such friendship is to call the person by their name the very next time you talk to them.

Now, on to the main task: how to learn and remember names of people. I’ll give you 5 tips here. But note that some may work better than others, depending on the core reason why you tend to forget. It defers from person to person, which is why tip 1 may be my best bet while yours could be tip 4, for example. But here are the 5:

Take An Interest: Unless you are truly interested in a person (or anything else for that matter), their name wouldn’t be that important to you. so generally, interest is a necessary factor in memory improvement.

Make it a habit therefore to pay attention and show a measure of interest in the people you meet. And try recalling the name a few seconds later. That way, the name gets registered in your long-term memory.

Repeat After Me! Well, not really after me. But immediately after hearing the name mentioned, the very next sentence from you must include that name. And it’s been proven that “it’s nice to meet you, Sandra” works better for your memory than “Sandra, it’s nice to meet you.”

Saying someone’s name right after the person mentioned it, as in the second example, is a rather automated and mindless ritual that hardly involves any mental effort, and thus doesn’t aid recalling the name later.

Repeat Again! But you have to be careful here. You don’t want to sound like a psycho or a pushy salesman, which is what happens when you overdo it. However, the truth remains that people like to hear someone say their name. And saying it at reasonable intervals helps you to remember it later.

Comment On The Name: Say something about the name, “what a nice name you’ve got” (if you sincerely think the name is nice). Or ask how the name is spelt, again depending on the name, so you don’t sound like you didn’t finish high school! (But compare Steven and Stephen). The aim really is to help etch the name on your memory.

End The Conversation With That Name: This is the best way to any conversation anyway. As you see this is nothing elaborate. Could just be a simple “Steven, it’s been nice talking to you.” This again serves to sink the name into your memory, while at the same time letting the person know you cared enough to still remember their name.

So there you have them, the 5 tips. The key again is to use the ones that work best for you. In fact you can use all 5. And the more often you use them, the more remembering names will become an automatic process for you.

Is your self–esteem holding you back from success in your MLM or other Business Ventures? Having a healthy level of self-esteem is important for every person. It helps you put things in proper perspective which in turn helps you get through life’s challenges and achieve the things you set out to achieve. So, do you value yourself? Do you like who you are?

You probably now have some idea what self-esteem is. But let’s make it clearer still. The term self-esteem is often associated with self-confidence. But it is not quite that—although there is a co-relation. Self-confidence aids self-esteem. But self-esteem runs much deeper, it is more encompassing.

We can sum it up by saying that self-esteem is a combination of self-confidence and self-worth. It is the belief in one’s abilities and importance; the conviction that one is competent to live and worthy of being here.

In order words, just being highly competent alone is not enough to make you value yourself. Hard to imagine? I’ll illustrate: if you can draw and paint like no other artist in the world, that will not affect the way you esteem yourself if what you really value is academic prowess.

Thus, rising to the top of one’s profession is unlikely to affect a person’s sense of self-worth if they are not proud of that profession.

It’s clear now, isn’t it? Self-esteem comes from a sense of personal efficacy and a sense of personal worth. Enough of definitions. How does this attribute help us in life, especially in our MLM or Online businesses?

A person having a high self-esteem is usually able to focus on the positive aspects of things, rather than dwelling on negativity which often breeds frustration and hinders the attainment of business goals.

No doubt there will be times in your business when things will not turn out the way you expected. There will also be times when you will be stressed out and quitting seems the most reasonable thing to do. A high self-esteem will see you through such times. It helps an individual to separate the failure of a person’s method and the failure of the person himself.

The person who believes in themselves and their abilities will simply change the methods or approach, perhaps even hiring some other set of workers and trying again. The thing is that as long as you believe you have what it takes to succeed in your business, if you hang on long enough, you will succeed!

Self-esteem helps your business in still other ways. It helps you to take calculated, creative risks and propels you to push through with your decisions, because you believe you are capable. In turn, this positive mentality attracts willing customers and the right type of staff.

The thing is that in the business world, especially today’s highly competitive business environment, the average client prefers to deal with the business person who exudes some measure of self-belief.

Ask yourself, would you hire a lawyer or marketer who does not believe in themselves or their abilities? Hardly! It is also true in other professions too. A high self-esteem will help you to deal more confidently with clients.

It will surely manifest in your communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, all of which will help to attract new clients and business deals.

We can go on and on. But suffice it to say that as a business person or an entrepreneur, a healthy self-esteem is a valuable asset you should try and cultivate. If you lack it, people will have doubts in your abilities. But if you have it, it often attracts people to you and your business.

Is your belief system holding you back from being successful in life, your MLM or Online business? The most enlightening and helpful exercise you can possibly embark on within the next few days is to find out why you believe the things you believe. I assure you’ll be surprised to discover the shaky ground on which the bulk of your belief system is based.

Let me tell you a story that will help you appreciate this point. A certain young lady was asked why she often cut her chicken into four parts prior to roasting. She explained that she did it because she understood it made the meat more tender.

Meanwhile when the same question was put to her mother, the mom explained that she learned it from her own mother and that she believed cutting the chicken in that manner reduces cooking time and saves cooking fuel.

But when the oldest woman, the grandma was asked the same question, she said that when she was raising her family, they could only afford a very small oven, and so it was necessary to cut the meat in four so they could fit it into the oven!

You may not know it, but there are numerous real-life versions of the scene narrated above. So many of the things we do we do them simply because others have done them, or are still doing them. In other words, most people operate their lives with a belief system that is not really theirs. They ask no questions about it, because have not given it much thought.

In the case of the mother and daughter presented above, they tenaciously held on to the belief that chicken must be cut into four before roasting. But grandma’s reason for doing it, i.e. the size of her oven, had long been overcome, no longer relevant in the lives of later generations. Yet the younger ladies failed to take note and adjust accordingly!

So, is your belief system holding you back in some ways? No, I am not suggesting you adopt a freakish or bizarre outlook in life. However, are there things you should be doing (or stop doing) in order to move your life forward, increase your sense of well-being, your happiness, self-esteem, etc?

Could your life become more refreshing if you changed a few of the things you believe? I assure you, by simply altering a few of your basic beliefs could change your life beyond your imagination.

The interesting thing about belief system is that it is idiosyncratic, very personal. This is both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, it means a person is free to adopt a unique approach to issues, such as when solving a problem.

On the other hand, it could also be very tempting for people to want to imitate whatever approach that has proved successful for someone else. This is not to say that everything we have learnt from others is harmful or useless. No.

There are many things we have learnt from others, including our parents that have served us well. But since the human society is generally selfish and constantly changing, it is safe to conclude that much of what have been handed down to us may be standing in our way of happiness.

Analyzing your belief system will help you to take charge of your life. After all, as an adult, you are free to believe anything you choose. So, occasionally ask yourself where some of your beliefs came from, and whether they still work for you.

If they assist you to be happy and free, fine. But if they engender fear and a feeling of worthlessness, then it is time to reexamine them. The key is to create a belief system that works for YOU.

Do you manage your time effectively? How do you spend your time each day? Proper time management is an integral part of being a MLM entrepreneur. But this can be very challenging as there are many things craving your attention.

Next you need to prioritize your activities. What things must be done before others can make any sense? Identify that first step and perform it first. Remember that details of certain tasks become evident only after the first stages have been accomplished.

Also, if you take a closer look, you will discover that there are always bits of activities that will not hurt anybody if they are not done now or today—such as responding to an email or charting with a friend on the web or on phone. Such activities and similar non-urgent tasks should be postponed until vital tasks are done.

Finally, perform the tasks. Having organized what tasks need to be done, and having arranged them in order of importance, your next step is to swing to action and do the work. Resist the habit of procrastinating clearly-identified tasks. Remember that procrastination is the thief of time.

And we are talking time management here. So if you must manage your time well, hate procrastination. Do not wait until such a time when you could perform the tasks perfectly.

Perfection sometimes acts as the enemy of achievement because it prevents people from starting. You can also use outside sources to improve your activities and save time and energy.

Developing time management skills is a process. But it is worth your while as it is sure to help you achieve more with your business. Following the guides suggested in this article can help you manage your time better.

The desire to be lucky is as old as the history of mankind. It is just as strong now in this our jet age as it was five thousand or more years ago when men dwelt in caves.

Everywhere and during all ages, people have often hoped to be favored by the fabled goddess of good luck. Or have there not been times when even you yourself looked at someone and reasoned ‘lucky her ’or‘ I wish I was like him’?

So I guess I am in good company if I ask the question: What percentage of life’s success stories can truly be attributed to luck, and which to hard work? It is one of those questions whereby the answer you get depends on who you ask. So I decided not to ask anyone but myself. In search of answers, I read countless personal development books and autobiographies.

My finding and the conclusion I have drawn from my inquiries into this matter is what I have decided to share with you in this article.

Perhaps the most interesting book I read on the subject was “The Richest Man in Babylon” by George S. Clason. In the book, Clason described mother luck as ‘an impatient and fickle-minded goddess who does not waste her time on anybody who is not prepared.’

That sort of sums up everything else I discovered in my examination of successful people. Forget the lottery winners. Forget also the wealthy inheritors. If luck must favor you, there is something you must do: work hard at whatever it is you are doing.

Throughout life, opportunities will keep presenting themselves to all men in every profession. Some grasp the opportunities by taking quick and consistent action. And they go on to achieve their life’s desires. But the vast majority of people often hesitate, procrastinate, and needlessly delay taking prompt and decisive action. Or when they do, their commitment is feeble and so they soon give up. And what happens? You guessed it; they fail and consider themselves unlucky!

But the main idea I am sharing with you here is that a person’s “luck” is enhanced when they prepare themselves very well and take advantage of opportunities. This is opposed to the idea that luck is merely a desirable outcome that happens to a person without any real effort on their part.

Listen, luck can be attracted! When a person is determined to succeed in life, he takes advantage of all available opportunities; he works hard, learns more about his trade, and seeks ways to overcome obstacles. Luck can not ignore such a person for long. In fact, luck finds him out!

Yes, I know there are a few persons who became wealthy through sheer luck; such as those who won jackpots. But don’t you agree that as far as financial success stories are concerned, these are the exceptions? It isn’t the rule. Trust me on this, playing the game of life on the basis of blind chance is extremely risky.

We can further sum things up this way; the chances of succeeding in life through sheer luck is so remote that anyone who goes about life counting solely on luck to see them through may well end up a failure.

On the other hand, there doesn’t exist anybody who diligently worked at an activity and who did not achieve a measure of success. Yes, levels of success may vary, but all who put their heart to what they do eventually see good results.

So get luckier by working your MLM business harder and smarter! Recognize and take advantage of opportunities that regularly present themselves. That way, when luck comes knocking, you will be prepared for her bounties!

Avoid The Temptation To Constantly Clean Your Coin—as if glitter determines the value. The truth is that despite your best efforts, occasional exposure to air will still cause your precious metals to oxidize, and thus change color (they are metals after all!). Avoid the temptation to rub and clean each time this happens.

Avoid cleaning your coins as much as possible because cleaning will gradually damage the finish. Experience shows that most coin collectors find a coin’s original appearance preferable—even if the color has been altered somewhat.

Even wiping your coins with soft cloth (if done too often) will gradually cause small scratches that may not be visible to the naked eye. So generally, your coin collectible coins actually have greater value if you avoid handling them too frequently.

As a coin collector, maintaining your collectible coins should be a top priority to you. after all, what the purpose of collecting coins if the traits that made them attractive yesterday are gone too soon due to poor handling. Adopt A Positive View Of Yourself: Generally, this means thinking of yourself positively. You are the only person who can change the way you view yourself. And, you know what? This pattern of thinking creates a win-win circle that shoots your self-confidence up. It works this way: first you see yourself as being capable of doing things (anything). Then you approach tasks with this mentality and go on to accomplish them successfully.

This improves the way you view yourself. Your outlook in life begins to exude passion and enthusiasm. This in turn affects the way other people view you, for indeed people tend to trust self-confident individuals. Again people’s confidence in you further fuels your confidence in yourself! And so the circle continues. Just remember that it starts with you!

Set Reachable Goals For Yourself: Goal-setting is one wonderful technique for tracking and recognizing successes. In turn, the more successes a person achieves, the better they’ll feel about themselves. This helps to build a record of competence which enhances the feeling of healthy pride in oneself. All this helps to boost a person’s belief in their competence—self-confidence.

Celebrate Yourself:! Yes, take pride in your accomplishments. Be your own first and best cheerleader and supporter. Each time you accomplish a task successfully, don’t wait for others to tell you how wonderful you are. Tell yourself that you rock! It does your self-confidence a lot of good.

Don’t Sabotage Your Efforts: Your level of self-confidence will take a hit the moment you begin to act in ways that are inconsistent with your core values. So even when you find yourself in a compromising situation, endeavor to act with integrity; do not look for dishonest ways to get out of a difficult situation. If you do, you’ll lack confidence to face a similar situation in the future. Worst of all, it carries over into your general feeling about yourself.

You Are A Human, After All: Yes, you are not infallible. So don’t be too hard on yourself on occasions when you fall short of your own or other people’s expectations. It’s OK to make mistakes once in a while, just as long as we learn from them. The lessons learnt from some minor mistakes or even total blunders often more than compensate for those shortcomings. And that will boost your belief in your abilities.

So, again, how self-confident are you? Well, no matter what your self-confidence level is at the moment, there’s always room for improvement. The first step is to believe in yourself and see yourself as capable. Others will follow!

Money, fame, a successful career; these are among the things many people would consider to be the most important things in life. What do you think; do you consider the factors above to be the chief things in life?

First though, let us agree that regardless of the route we take, our goal in all our pursuits remain essentially the same: Happiness.

The problem with most people is that in their pursuit of this state of mind, they often sacrifice too much, sometimes sacrificing even happiness itself along the way! As a result, just when they think they have finally captured the cage that should hold joy and satisfaction, such as by getting to the peak of one’s career, they soon discover that the cage is empty. How tragic!

Take money or financial success for example. The extent to which money contributes to happiness is probably the most misunderstood phenomenon on earth. Now please do not take me wrong. Money is very important to have in our society. In fact the Late Jim Rohn Says it ranks right up there with oxygen.

But as a result, it is highly overrated by most persons. Meanwhile various researches have repeatedly proven that slightly above the poverty line, subsequent financial success contributes less and less to a person’s state of happiness. This has to be true; otherwise, why are suicide rates among wealthy people and lottery winners among the highest?

Likewise those who see fame as the ultimate in life; they soon get disillusioned. Drug overdose and, yes, suicide are particularly high among very famous people. Why? Surely fame hasn’t brought them real happiness.

So then what? Yes, what things are truly the most important in life?
I would propose that the most important things in life are those that bring the greatest happiness to ourselves and those around us. Top on this list would be genuine love and rich relationships, such as is shared among true friends and family members. Next on my list would be a measure of good health and a good relationship with the creator, God.

It goes without saying that love is the chief thing in life. What would life amount to if nobody, not even God, shows us affection? Newborn babies soon die when they are denied affection. And adults do not fare much better. We can as well say the same thing about relationships. Developing a healthy relationship with others creates interdependence, which is vital to both personal and your business growth.

This is not to say that money and financial success are of no use. No. It is just that they should not be your major focus in life. And that leads us to another item on the most important things in life: wisdom.

I will define wisdom as the correct application of knowledge. Wisdom is hugely important in our lives. For example, it takes wisdom to balance your personal MLM business pursuits without sacrificing vital family and other relationships. In deed, it is when we go about our pursuits in this way that we stand the chance of being happy at their attainment.

On the other hand, a failure to get these factors in proper order leads so many people to frustrations. This is because every person has a set of beliefs, or mindset which guides them as they make decisions.

This mindset is often shaped by such variables as our individual experiences in life, our education and the environment where a person grew up. This mindset may either be working in our favor or against us. The difference lies in the cumulative outcome of all our decisions. Good results mean that our mindset is working, and vice versa.

Bearing in mind that your decisions today will have a significant effect on how the rest of your life turns out. Would it not be better to pay greater attention to the most important things in life as you also go after your MLM success? Interestingly, most wealthy people find that once they get things in proper order, other things naturally fall into place. So enrich your life, approach things in this way.
