In both business and everything else, those who take action are the ones who see results. Along with proper planning and the drive to succeed, taking action ranks very high among those important pieces of the success puzzle.

So there can be no doubt about it, taking action is clearly important if you’re ever going to realize those grand dreams you’ve nurtured about your business. Otherwise they remain just that—dreams!
But that is not to say that taking action is always easy.

Even after you’ve thoroughly planned the business approach and all, you may still find yourself putting off the take-off date. Quite often, what is lacking is the will, or the motivation to START.

And that’s where you need to work on: the will or the boldness to press the START button within you. There are ways to overcome that challenge. Here are three ways to motivate yourself to take action and to continue taking more action.

Break Things Down:

It’s all very easy and even human to feel overwhelmed by the sheer size of task at hand and the sheer amount of time and energy a person needs to muster to be able to tackle them. It becomes even more paralyzing when the task appears to be long-drawn and cumbersome.

When a task looks that way, we often tell ourselves it’s too much work and that we don’t have the time available to begin and finish them. And quite frankly, you may never really have that kind of time!

The solution? Break the tasks down into smaller bits that the mind can easily sub-consciously size up and tackle. Break the major goal into series of smaller steps or milestones that are achievable within a few hours or at most a day. That way, things will appear manageable.

And what normally happens is that the moment you achieve each little identifiable task, your confidence and momentum builds which further spurs you on to embark on the next task, thus taking more action!

And you’ll surely agree that each time you accomplish any task related to your goal, the ultimate goal appears to draw nearer, which again encourages you to go on.

Take Away Distractions:

There are surely things or persons that cause the most distractions. They differ from person to person. For some, television programs may be it, while for others their worst distracters are close friends and family members. You know what it is in your own case. So stay away from such factors—especially at the time you should be doing something related to your business goal.

If you work from home, this may be hard to do, which is one reason those who can afford it rent some cheap office space away from home. But if your current budget can’t accommodate that, then you may be able to reach an accord with those in your house to leave you out of discussions at certain times of the day—while at the same time you also discipline yourself to resist the TV and needless web-surfing.

Fight Lethargy:

Yes, there are times when you feel like you can lift up and touch the sky! Conversely, there are also times when your performance and your motivation level clearly go into a slump. Don’t lie low until the sluggish spell fades away

There are some steps you can take to re-motivate and energize yourself. A brisk walk and similar forms of exercise can often send fresh oxygen into your brain and help you to begin thinking clearly once again. And that will make you feel inclined to taking action and doing your work.

It has often been said that we should work ourselves into feeling like doing something rather than waiting until we feel like doing it. It often works out that when a person continues to do something towards the accomplishment of their cherished dreams, they usually find the motivation along the way to continue going until the goal is realized. So if you want your dreams to become a reality, continue to take purposeful action.

Zig Ziglar—Success with A Human Face

Zig Ziglar is an accomplished public speaker of international acclaim. He is also a prolific author and a successful businessman. Those who know him would also agree than this amiable businessman derives as much pleasure from coaching and seeing people succeed as he does from his own personal accomplishments.

It couldn’t have been any different for a man whose guiding principle goes thus: ‘you can get everything you want out of life if you just help enough other persons to get what they want.’ How I love that quote! Wouldn’t this cold world have been a much better place if everyone operated with that principle?

Zig was virtually brought up by a single parent, his mother, having lost his father when he was still very young. And what great job the woman did in bringing up the young Zig! Her strict adherence to high moral values, good work ethics, compassion for people, and a resilient attitude all combined to groom her son for a life of numerous successes and a deep-seated desire to help people improve the quality of their lives.

What distinguishes Zig Ziglar from most other motivational speakers is his emphasis on the pursuit of balanced success—the sort of success that truly leaves you happy because along the way you had succeeded in making others happy, too.

This explains why his works have been found useful by Fortune 500 companies as well as churches, private individuals as well as governments, families as well as social groups. Zig’s works cover areas such as sales, leadership, personal success, Christian faith, and family issues.

He has severally shared the speakers’ podium with U.S. presidents, business moguls, army generals, congressmen and governors. And he has travelled extensively around the world delivering speeches that cut across age, occupation, and culture.

His multimillion-dollar company— the Zig Ziglar corporation—operates on the same personal philosophies which he preaches to his worldwide audience, namely, integrity, hard work, fairness, dedication, common sense, and of course compassion. The man Zig also possesses an excellent sense of humor.

All his works—from books to seminars are all spiced up with large doses of humor. He never tires of informing both governments, corporations and even individuals themselves of the need to develop that most important resource—individuals. This is why he once said that“Building a better you is the first step to building a better America.”

Zig Ziglar has over 12 books to his name, among them are bestsellers like Secrets Of Closing The Sale, Courtship After Marriage, See You At The Top, Raising Positive Kids In A Negative World, Success For Dummies, Etc. He has also produced numerous training videos and audio CDs and tapes.

He is not so much into online activities. But that has not in any way reduced the impact of his works, some of which have been translated into over two dozen languages. At the moment he is almost retired. But his works will likely remain for ages.

Are you looking for the kind of coach who can help you harness your talents to maximum limits? Zig’s programs contain general tips and personalized techniques to help all, regardless of age or culture, to improve in all that they do.

The fact that people travel from both far and near to attend his seminars and workshops would suggest that his programs have been helping people solve business and personal issues.

How to Achieve True Fulfillment and Contentment

Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs ranks self-actualization (another name for true fulfillment) at the peak of human desires. And I am inclined to agree with Mr. Maslow. True fulfillment and contentment are two goals that should cap all our achievements. For without them, the question should logically arise: to what end were all those struggles? See what Tony Robbins Says About Reaching Your Goals.

As it is, true fulfillment is one objective everyone yearns to have in their life. But very few people end up having it. What is the secret? There are no secrets at all—just truths, universal truths and principles that surround us.

They only appear hidden from us because they are things a person can only see when one is ready to see them. The law is oh so simple, which is one reason many people overlook it.

The “secret” to having true fulfillment and contentment lies with following the things YOU really believe in and taking actions everyday to make your vision come true. Bear in mind that the emphasis is not so much on the dream itself as it is on what it means to you.

Because there isn’t only one way to self-fulfillment. What brings one person immense joy and deep satisfaction may not mean a thing to another person. And therein lays the problem: many people look for contentment and personal fulfillment with the prism that belongs to someone else! No, it ought to be idiosyncratic—unique to each individual.

So the first task before each of us, really, is to identify what it is that is most important to us. What are those goals that their attainment will ultimately give you the most happiness and ultimate fulfillment in your life? In truth, this is not too difficult to identify.

In our sub-conscious mind, there’s always one central thing we all yearn to be or to do. There’s always a thought deep down somewhere in our mind of where we want to be or what we want to be.

But what happens is that in the rush to meet unending commitments and deadlines on a daily basis, most persons spend little or no time at all focusing on the things that are truly meaningful to them.

At the end of the day, when many achieve the common goal that most persons are pursuing—higher education, good job, big cars, big houses, and maybe even lots of money— they discover that there’s still an emptiness inside. The happiness and contentment they craved still elude them.

True fulfillment and contentment will only come when a person pursues and achieves what matters most to them—and they are achievable.

So really, as far as contentment and fulfillment are concerned, the major challenge facing each person is to clearly identify what dreams or goals they wish to achieve.

The more we focus our powerful thoughts on our goals and dreams, the closer we get to realizing them. On the other hand, each day spent not following your dreams and goals only serves to take you further away from ultimate happiness.

In the end, the process isn’t really complicated, or is it? The major thing to bear in mind is that you have the right to choose exactly what you want out of life. And in making this decision, do not be guided by what everyone else is chasing.

Most people are chasing shadows, and that’s why most people are not happy. Join the few who have identified what is important to them. Follow your innermost thoughts. Then rest assured that true fulfillment and contentment is within your reach.

The dust is yet to settle on a recent Dr. Benny Morris seminar organized by the man popularly known as “Dr. Encouragement.” The man behind the name, Dr. Benny Morris is a celebrated name in public speaking and business training.

He’s been training and teaching people success principles for over 20 years. His online training and coaching sessions are among the most popular in the internet community. It is no wonder that when news filtered in that he was organizing a seminar at Tampa, Florida, quite a number of business owners re-arranged their schedules to be there in person.

Employing stories, analogies, and objective lessons, Dr. Morris helped his audience to break many of the barriers that have been holding them back from reaching their full potentials. He harped on the need to stay focused and to watch your set of beliefs.

Personally, I can’t agree more with Dr. Morris on nearly all of the lessons he taught the audience. Talking about beliefs, the thing about them is that most times, we do not consciously decide what we believe—“I’m just not cut out to be a high achiever,” “I don’t have what it takes,” “this is as far as I can go” ”I will never understand this” “I just can’t change who I am.” Who told you that? Another thing about beliefs is that once adopted, we often forget their real interpretation.

And that often leads to wrong application of these handed-down beliefs. Unfortunately, unless there’s a sound basis for the set of beliefs you cling to, they may well be sabotaging your efforts much more than you realize. In other words, you may well be operating your life or your business with a manual designed for someone else.

What it all means, as Dr. Morris pointed out, is that we should occasionally challenge some of the beliefs we hold. That way we’ll be able to break through our self-limiting beliefs.

The inability to stay focused is another frequent cause of business failures. A lot of people, especially new entrepreneurs are so easily distracted by the promise of another “great opportunity,” or they easily get discouraged when initial expectations are taking too long to materialize.

Either case, they stop implementing their business plans and start looking for another easier opportunity. Unfortunately there’s none out there. The next opportunity, like the present one, will still require you to stay focused and work your plan.

Of course many people complain that they were not born or blessed with the ability to focus. I find it hard to understand what that means. What I know is that everyone is born with an emotion called fear.

In itself, fear is not bad—at least it protects us from dangers or unnecessary risks. But given free reign, fear can also prevent a person from taking the actions that are necessary for success.

And when people easily give up give on opportunities, unknown to them, they are driven by the fear of failure: they fear that if they continue on that line, they’ll fail. Ironically, it is the inability to stay focused that ultimately results is failure!

Dr. Morris drove home the point that if anyone wants to be successful, the person must get focused and take the actions needed to achieve success. Quoting Tony Robbins, Dr. Morris said “if you can’t, you must.” Enough said, Doctor!

I can only suggest that if Dr. Morris happens to organize another seminar near your area, you’ll be doing yourself a lot of good if you attend. Lots of life and business lessons await you.

Why You Should Set Goals And Work On Them Daily

That those who Set Goals often achieve higher than those who just drift along is not in doubt. What is amazing is how often people deviate from the goals they set, or abandon it entirely. The major cause is that many people set faulty goals to begin with.

There are both right and wrong ways to set goal, as well as motivating and discouraging attitudes towards set goals. In the end, these two factors will determine if and to what extent a person will achieve their goals. Since success in every aspect of life is accelerated when we set and pursue our goals, it behooves everyone to learn the right way to set goals.

First, let’s talk about goal-setting techniques. This requires that you first take stock of your various responsibilities—either as a parent, husband, wife, employee, entrepreneur/businessman, etc. These are your roles as an individual, and they will always have an impact on everything else you do.

Any goal you set for yourself that doesn’t take these responsibilities into consideration will be extremely difficult to achieve. Take, for instance, a family head and sole breadwinner who sets out to achieve the same savings target as a fellow employee on same salary scale, but one who is a single mother or whose spouse works. Isn’t such a goal faulty from the onset?

Besides your responsibilities or roles in life, the next thing you need to consider in setting goals is what things are most important to you as a person. These are your values. List them out in order of importance.

Next, decide very clearly your overall objective in life. Write this out in one unambiguous sentence. In the corporate world, it is known as the mission statement. Remember that your objective must be closely related to your values.

Indeed, your values should guide your overall objective—your goal. And as I stated earlier, this objective—whether long-term or short-term—should take your various responsibilities into consideration before it could be considered realistic and actionable.

The wisdom of setting goals in this way is that your goals in effect become a proper extension of your core values, the things that matter most to you. They’ll reflect your beliefs, your talents, responsibilities, and chosen mission. The process of actualizing them becomes a lot easier.

That brings us to the issue of attitude towards goals. It is said in some quarters that a goal should primarily focus on the result rather than on the process. I disagree. Both are important.

If the process is tortuous and uninspiring, there is every chance that such a goal will be abandoned mid-way. Indeed, people become impatient when they focus too much on the outcome rather than the process that leads to the outcome. A goal will be easier to attain if the path is consistent with a person’s values and realities.

It is also useful and more inspiring to focus on what effect a goal will have on your life (or the lives of those you love) when it is achieved. As you focus on how your goal will improve lives, you’ll be motivated to take continuous action to achieve it. That is only natural.

When you develop this mindset, the time it will take to achieve some of your goals will no longer matter. You’ll even see yourself embarking on huge missions, even some that may not be achievable in your lifetime. Yes, not all goals are achievable within a person’s lifetime!

But really, does it matter as far it is achievable? Just think: what would’ve been the fate of the African American in America today if Martin Luther King and other civil rights activists had not fought for goals that are only being realized long after they’re gone? That’s the point. As far as your goals inspire you and they’re achievable, the process will not matter as much as the end result.

Personal or Individual Success? You Can Achieve Both!

Are Personal and Business Success mutually exclusive, an “either or” relationship? I don’t think so. But a lot of people do, and as a result, many sacrifice one in pursuit of the other.

You need not look far to see proof of this. Just take a look at some of the biggest names in the world of sports, or showbiz, or even the corporate world they know the power of focus.

There you’ll find “superstars” or high achievers whose personal lives make you wonder if you’re not luckier with your lower profile life. Most have terrible family lives, spouses and children who curse the day the person attained stardom status.

And for the individuals themselves, the high suicide rates and mental breakdown is all the proof we need that not all success is success. Yes indeed, some of what many regard as success is actually failure by another name!

But business and personal success are wholly achievable. You only need to approach the matter in ways that are capable of getting you the outcome you crave. For one thing, you’ll have to define from the onset what success means to you—both personal and individual success.

I’m saying this because lots of folks out there define success in terms of attaining heights comparable to what someone else has attained. To them, a person is only successful if they equal or break someone else’s record. Right? Wrong!

Success ought to be idiosyncratic, a very personal thing. Success should mean achieving one’s goals which were set bearing in mind one’s desires, values, goals, potentials and peculiar circumstances. No, this is not self-limiting. It rather helps a person to know where to draw the line in the pursuit of success and happiness.

It doesn’t matter whether it is business or personal success, the moment you define what it is you want to achieve—your goals— and tailor them to your individual abilities, you are half way to achieving them. Also, you are more likely to experience satisfaction rather than emptiness at the attainment of these objectives.

Of course, goal attainment calls for its own set of rules, which include being disciplined, being a good manager of time, being passionate about your mission, having a never-say-die attitude, as well as constantly learning and updating your knowledge in your chosen line of business.

You should also not underestimate the impact that good mentors can have on your efforts. In either personal or business goal, it pays to learn from those who are ahead of you. Find out what it is that’s helping them succeed where others have failed.

For example, if you’re a relatively young couple who’re having serious issues with your marriage, wouldn’t it be wise to confide in a couple who’s weathered the storm for a few decades?

Similarly, if you’re having a hard time keeping your home business going—or maybe you’re right now seriously considering quitting—wouldn’t it be the course of wisdom to have a heart-to –heart with someone who’s been through a similar experience and has now succeeded?

Ultimately, you alone can and should decide what success means to you. But in no way does that preclude the need to learn a thing or two from others. But be sure to evaluate what you learn; tailor it to your individual aspirations. Only then will you attain the sort of Personal and Business Success that brings satisfaction.

Starting a business is like building a high-rise structure. The final building will only be as strong as its foundations. Yes, adjustments could be effected later, but often at huge costs.

Most times, really, a faulty foundation often means that a structure will fail on its own or will need to be brought down. Do you imagine that you can build an enduring enterprise without first giving serious thoughts to vital questions?

It could mean the difference between giving your business a solid foundation or a shaky one. Before starting a home business, you should be able to answer the 5 questions below in a positive manner—at least most of them. If you’re not sure what your answers to these questions are, that may be proof that the business idea you’re nursing may not work.

HERE THEY ARE:

What Do I Know About This Business? It’s hard to succeed doing something we do not fully understand. Yes, there’s room for learning the things we do not know. But that should be done before, not after jumping into the fray.

Bottom line is that you should educate yourself the best you can about the business you want to go into—how it is done, and what it entails. This will help you decide if you have what it takes to succeed in that type of business, or if you have the resources to acquire the aspects of the business that you do not currently have.

Am I Passionate About This Business? Do not go into any business simply because you heard people are making money with it. There’s no free money anywhere. Every business will require you to stay through the thick and thin before you can see results. If you do not really like the business, you are unlikely to push on if the money is not swift in coming.

Do I Have The Time For This Kind Of Business? All businesses will require your time, some more than others. Very likely you are holding down a full-time job.

Do not be deceived: A home business takes up far more time than a regular 40-hour per week job. I know because I’m into both. So, are you already strapped for time?

Then beware, home business will only makes things worse. You should take into consideration the demands of your daytime job, your family that needs you, your physical limitations, etc. After that, you can then decide if this is something you want to do.

Do You Have The Materials To Start This Business? Go through your inventory and decide if you have all that are necessary to start this type of business, or at least the most basic items.

Remember that if you don’t have them, you’ll get stuck at some point or you’ll have to buy them. So, you should also ask yourself if you have the money to buy the ones you do not have.

Are The Products Likely To Sell? This sounds pretty obvious. But it is one question most persons don’t ever ask before starting a home business. However, it is crucial to first find out if there’s need for the product or service you want to provide.

Starting a home business can be very exciting. But very few persons still find it exciting six months or a year later. Most had not considered the 5 points listed above before jumping into home business.

Jim Rohn: An Objective Review

Jim Rohn was my mentor for many years through his works. A lot has been written and said about the man Jim Rohn during his lifetime, but most especially since his demise.

Expectedly most of what has been said had portrayed him in good light. But a few had dwelt on negativity.

So I decided to look more closely into the life and times of this celebrated businessman and motivational speaker to see if there’s more than meets the eye in either direction. Here are my findings.

Jim Rohn had become a household name in business training and motivational speaking long before his death. With over 6000 direct audiences and nearly 4 million followers worldwide, his popularity has hardly come as a surprise. And if you add the over 25 different works he had authored, you’ll begin to see why the name rings a bell.

Background checks revealed that the man himself was born around the middle of the last century to an Idaho farming family. He had a rather quite childhood and a checkered early adulthood. He wasn’t even really educated—dropping out of college in the first year.

At about 25 years of age, it was looking like he would live and die on a low profile note. But just then, he met the legendary John E. Shaoff, a very successful businessman and philosopher of sorts. Mr. Shaoff’s accomplishments, philosophy in life and sheer charisma soon began to rub of on Jim Rohn.

After joining John Shaoff’s direct sales business, Jim Rohn’s path to greatness got fast tracked. At age 31 he was already a millionaire. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Or, is it really history? Not when numerous successful salespeople and other business owners around us owe their own success stories to some of the life lessons taught by Jim Rohn. It is well known that he was very instrumental in launching the careers of sales and public speaking celebrities like Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy, and Les Brown.

In my opinion, his greatest contribution to the human race remains his philosophies for success—especially his emphasis on mental and physical discipline. He repeatedly taught, and rightly too, that both success and failures don’t happen by chance, and they do not happen overnight.

To Jim Rohn, success is a result of small steps (or as he calls it, small disciplines) conducted everyday for a sufficient period of time. Failure on other hand is the end result of not doing enough for a long time or doing too little for too long. Doesn’t your personal observation support that?

Here is my summary of Jim Rohn’s guiding philosophy: There is danger in looking at one undisciplined day and concluding that no great harm has been done. For, when you add up those days to make a year, and add up those years to make a lifetime, it will become obvious that repeating today’s small failures will easily turn a person’s life into a major disaster!

I allow this reasoning to guide the way I approach everything I do. I try not to take anything for granted and I do not underestimate the impact that seemingly little steps can have over time.

Jim Rohn sure means different things to different persons. But to me, his high work ethics, strong sense of discipline and observable commitment to groom others for success are traits every mentor and follower needs to cultivate. HAVE THE BEST YEAR EVER!

Are you interested in learning Affiliate Marketing Take A Look At This Product? The past ten years have witnessed an explosion in internet use. At the moment, there seems to be no end to what use the internet can be put; every year brings new opportunities.

It all started like a fad, but over the last 5 years, using the internet to market goods and services has now become fully established—and growing. That in turn has opened up yet another opportunity for independent marketers to earn money by promoting products and services on behalf of manufacturers and wholesalers in what is known as affiliate marketing.

Simply put, affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting products or services for other companies. The process is pretty simple: you visit the website or blog where these products are “warehoused,” read up details about the products, and then decide which ones to recommend to others.

Each time an end user takes recommended action regarding the products, you are paid an agreed commission for your efforts. Whether you are spanking new to affiliate marketing or you’ve been around for some time, it’s useful to constantly tweak up your marketing strategies.

Here are 5 tips to help you fine tune your efforts for maximum results:

Identify And Understand The End Users: This is the first and probably the best advice you’ll ever get. It is the first clue as to how well you’ll do as an affiliate marketer. You should be able to tell what people are looking for and where they are looking for it. And, is that what you are providing?

Provide Related Information: Having identified the needs of the people you want to market to, you should provide the sort of information that will naturally channel their minds toward the solution you are recommending.

Let’s say your intention is to link the prospective customer to a page that provides solution to sleeping disorders, your article (if you are marketing with articles) shouldn’t be discussing auto insurance! Your article should rather be on sleep-related issues.

Cultivate Trust: Whether you’re just starting out in affiliate marketing or it’s something you’ve been implementing for sometime, try not to focus on making sales at all costs. Promote the right products that truly are capable of solving people’s problems, as you promised.

You need to first believe in these products yourself. If you provide valuable information, and if the products truly live up to expectation, your reputation will grow through backlinking and word of mouth. And the sales (and of course the money!) will come.

Be Careful Which Niches You Select To Promote:

The affiliate marketing field is getting more and more congested—and competitive. Some niches are obviously more crowded than others. Affiliate marketing greenhorns think it’s best to flow with the hot, competitive programs. Wrong.

It’s a lot harder to make sales in those congested niches. And that could lead to discouragement. You stand a better chance when you go for less competitive or special-interest programs.

Do Not Promote Too Many Products: Promoting a large array of products, especially from different niches can reduce your chances of making sales. This may sound contrary to common reasoning. But it’s a tested fact.

As an affiliate marketer, your chances are enhanced when you focus on a small band of products in related niches. And it should be in niches you have knowledge and passion for.

I do not pretend that the 5 tips discussed above are big secrets. Some of them are pretty obvious. At best they should serve to help convince you that some of the things you’ve heard are good advice—don’t we need that sometimes? Above all, following these tips will save you money and help you make repeated sales in affiliate marketing.
